isaac and margaret (law) mCcune
Isaac McCune (b. Aug. 27, 1822 in Perry, OH) married Margaret Law (b. Oct. 3, 1823 in Ireland) Jan. 27, 1848 in Pike County, IL. Isaac and Margaret first came to Kansas with their five children in 1866 and settled in the Ft. Scott area. Their youngest child Harriet L. “Daisy” was also born in October of that year. He remained in that area for three years until his move to Crawford County in 1869 when he purchased 240 acres from Leroy Acres. A 60 acre portion of that farm would become the site of the town which bears his name. Isaac and Margaret had six children. Margaret died Aug. 28, 1881. Isaac married his second wife, Belle White, Nov. 19, 1882. Isaac died Feb. 4, 1902 and is buried in the McCune Cemetery. The children are:
Elida Jane (b. Dec. 25, 1848) married John G. West Jan. 20, 1867. They had 6 children. She passed on Oct. 9, 1931. She and her husband John are buried in the McCune Cemetery.
James Frank (b. June 2, 1850) married Charlotte L. Phillips July 25, 1880. They had a daughter named Ivanetta. James died June 28, 1901.
Alice A. (b. 1852) married James G. Mackey Dec 24, 1869. They had two daughters, Hattie and Rosa. Alice died Jan. 31, 1890.
Samuel Alexander (b. May 7, 1861) married Ada Martin Oct. 1, 1881. They had four children. He died June 6, 1937 in Neodesha. He and Ada are buried in the McCune Cemetery.
Margaret Lou (b. Dec. 5, 1862) married Elijah P. Hill Feb. 22, 1880. They had a son, Raymond, who died in infancy. She passed Oct. 16, 1949 in Houston, TX. She and her husband and their infant son are buried in the McCune Cemetery.
Harriet L. (Daisy) (b. Oct. 12, 1866) married John M. Garvey Nov. 6, 1890. She died Sept. 3, 1892 and, along with her husband, is buried in the McCune Cemetery.
